95bFM is an independent, community‑driven radio station based in Tāmaki Makaurau, broadcasting from the University of Auckland since 1969. Known for alternative music, independent journalism, and progressive politics, it is New Zealand’s oldest corporate‑free broadcaster and is largely run by volunteers, championing local culture and voices outside the mainstream. I was interviewed for a free self-defence I ran for refugee and migrant women.
Women’s Self Defense on bFM
The Women’s Self-Defence Network Wahine Toa hosted a free self-defence session for refugee and migrant women and other marginalised genders along with free lunch and childcare. Lillian Hanly speaks with Vivian Chandra from the Network to find out more about the event and discuss why it is important for women to know self-defence.
Vivian is more than happy to put anyone in touch with the right person if they want to find out more or get involved, she is also about to advertise a few more courses for the rainbow community and for any women and non-binary people.
