TRIGGER WARNING So the slight irony here is that my previous post was entitled "Glad to be home". Since then, we've had the entire Roastbuster's story (see links below) and lots and lots in all sorts of popular media about rape and what it means. Then this morning I see a link about "Anti-Rape wear"! … Continue reading ARRGH

Glad to be home!
So my last post said that it was probably gonna be one of two. How right I was! I guess it's not really psychic ability, more like I know how lazy I am 🙂 In fact, this post wouldn't have happened at all except that I read an article which reminded me of something that … Continue reading Glad to be home!
Cultural Clash!
This will hopefully be the first of a few blogs chronicling my trip to Aus and working with the team at Amnesty Australia! It will most likely be one of two as I forget about this and get to a big round up when I get back! Thought I would start here though, sitting in … Continue reading Cultural Clash!
Gendered balloons!
This post is dedicated to all the children's entertainers out there. Went to a 1 year old birthday party yesterday. It was a large family affair with many many children of mixed ages attending. As seems to be the thing these days, there was entertainment for the children. As they all gathered at the small … Continue reading Gendered balloons!
[FILM REVIEW] Lee Daniels’ The Butler
I was lucky enough recently to be invited to the media screening of Lee Daniels' The Butler through work. It was awesome! (and much much better than the 6.5/10 that IMDB users seem to think it is!) It's based on the true story of Eugene Allen who served 8 US Presidents as a staff member … Continue reading [FILM REVIEW] Lee Daniels’ The Butler
Bubbling racism…
Listened to the Wonder Rose Rice commercial for the umpteenth time today. For those of you that don't know (and really, why should you) it's a new brand of rice for sale in NZ. Apparently it comes with quite an aggressive marketing strategy, I've hardly heard ads for any other rice brands! Also it's available … Continue reading Bubbling racism…
Geekery…
Been playing round with making things talk to each other all day, so thought i'd do a bit of a geek post. Those of you readers interested in social justice and human rights, feel free to ignore, right about now! The geeks amongst us read on! Background I'm a self-confessed Microsoft geek with a Microsoft … Continue reading Geekery…
On parenting and homework
RAWWR! Go back to your room, and don't come out until you've finished your homework! I'm a self-confessed Tiger Mom and am proud of my hard working Asian heritage when it comes to my kids. So when I read the article on the "value" of homework in Friday's Herald, I was intrigued to hear about … Continue reading On parenting and homework
Privacy (Take 2)
Kashmir Hill (@kashhill) wrote an article about Trial by Timeline and online privacy on Forbes.com and I found it a much more interesting take on our tool than any of the others I had read! (And trust me, I've scanned through quite a few blog posts and articles and even featured in a few!) I really … Continue reading Privacy (Take 2)
Happy Mother’s Day!
Bit of a personal post today! Cos it's mother's day!! Took mommy out to the Auckland Seafood School at Auckland Fish Markets for a special Mother's Day Brunch! It was pretty awesome, an hour of watching the chef do it, then an hour of cooking then an hour of eating... yummm
